SERVICES

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Canadian statistics show that one in five Canadians will experience a mental health problem this year.  MHFA is an interactive workshop that teaches participants to recognize the signs that a person may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis and how to provide initial help and guide the person to appropriate professional resources.   (Mentalhealthfirstaid.ca, 2018)

Mental Health First Aid is a training course designed to give members of the public the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it builds mental health literacy, decreases stigmatizing attitudes, and helps individuals identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness.  (Mentalhealthfirstaid.ca, 2018)

MHFA Canada is an evidence-based program of The Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Customized Curriculum development and Workshops (Mental Health Awareness and Self-Care)

Are your agency’s or organization’s training needs being met, or are you settling for some off the shelf training in hopes that it will fit your needs? Are you having difficulty getting the right workshop for your emergency responders? Why not let my background in curriculum development and education help you meet those needs versus settling on a “cookie-cutter” training delivery?

Whether it’s a 4 hrs, 8 hrs, 2-day workshop or anything in between, I can customize and deliver what you are looking for.  Topics are but not limited to (just ask):

  • Mental Health Awareness and Mental wellness

  • Occupational Injuries and stressors

  • Trauma and the traumatic response

  • Stress, self-care and your resiliency toolbox

  • Communications Strategies

  • Crisis and crisis intervention skills and techniques

  • Friends and family - interacting with an emergency responder
